Gun Battle Prompts Evacuations In Tijuana

TIJUANA, Mexico -- A shootout with police in Tijuana on Thursday has prompted the evacuations of their City Hall and police headquarters, NBC 7/39 reported.

Aprox. at 10:00 a.m. local police and soldiers had a gun battle with member of the drug cartel. Tijuana news sources are reporting that four police men were shot. Schools in the area were placed on Lockdown until police officers arrived to escort the children out.

At 2:40 p.m. City Hall, state and local courts were evacuated, even their parking lot. According to news sources, chatter was heard on radio frequencies by local police, indicating that grenades were going to be thrown at the offices of City Hall in retaliation. Other sources indicate that two doves with their head cut off, and money attached to them, were found outside city hall. According to local police, those doves are known as symbolic death threats.

In the end, 4 police officers where injured, 2 seriously, and 5 criminals were apprehended.
